M:He seemed very calm.
W:Did he make any mistakes?
M:Well,sure…
W:Oh,no!Did everyone notice?
M:I don’t think so.They were little mistakes.Someone would need to know the song very well to notice.I heard the mistakes, but I don’t think anyone else did.He seemed so calm that no one thought anything was wrong.
W:I’m so glad to hear that. He’s been working hard for many years to get this good on the piano. His next concert will be better.
M:Yes.Everyone makes mistakes. But the crowd liked him. They clapped loudly for him when he was done.

W: I think it’s very important to relax because if you don’t you can get too stressed. What do you think?
M: Yes, I think so.Once I even got ill because I was too stressed out studying for exams! But what do you do to relax?
W: Well, sometimes I go to my room and lie down and listen to my favourite music, or read a book. What about you?
M: If I want to relax I often play computer games.
W: I don’t think computer games are relaxing — they can be so exciting and then it’s difficult to stop playing.
M: It’s not a problem for me.It’s good fun.I sometimes play until midnight.
W: Really? It’s too bad for your health. You’d better not stay up for it again.Going out is a better way.I sometimes like to take my dog for a long walk in the country or a park. That makes me feel healthy and relaxed.
M: I agree with you.
听第9段材料,回答第14至17题。
Text 9
W: Why did you decide to publicize climate change in this way?
M: Well, I was really upset about some countries’ failure to sign up pollution control agreements; it felt like the science wasn’t getting understood by the politicians, so I decided to look into what I personally could do.That led me to dream up a cartoon character called Mr.Carbon — we all know somebody like him — he’s climate-ignorant and makes no effort to save energy.Of course, factories are the obvious bad character in the real world, but I couldn’t do much about them.
W: So are we going to see him in scenes like we get in disaster movies?
M: That’s pretty unlikely — it’s hard to make a box office success. But he certainly gives cause for concern.People are becoming more aware of the climate change.
W: So you came up with the idea of another cartoon character, Mrs.Green.
M: Yes.Now she pays attention to little things, uses low-energy light bulbs, doesn’t leave the TV on standby, goes in for recycling. As well as making a contribution to the climate, she’ll save 150,000 dollars over her lifetime.

Text 10
My name’s Jade.I’m fifteen and an only child living with my parents in Porchester.Last autumn my cousin Bettina came to live in our house. She’s nineteen, and very pretty. She’s staying with us while she’s a student at the university in Porchester. At first, I was very pleased to have another teenager in our house, because most of my friends don’t live near me, but recently my feelings have changed.
I have lots of homework because I’m studying for school exams, but I have to clean my room and help with the washing-up.Bettina doesn’t have exams this year so she doesn’t have to work so hard. She has more money than me.She earns a bit because my dad helped her get a part-time job at the local cinema. She doesn’t pay the full price for tickets to see films there. And although she doesn’t pay my parents to live in our house, they don’t make her help in the house like I have to.
When I mentioned this to my parents they reminded me that we have to be kind to Bettina because her dad hasn’t been well for a long time.I agree with that but there is a problem.I know Bettina tells lies to my parents. Two days ago she asked my mum to lend her some money. She said she needed to buy some books, but she spent it all on CDs.I asked my parents if they knew what she had done, but they didn’t believe me.This worries me a lot.I don’t know what I should do now.
