W:He won’t mind?

W:Good morning! You’re up early. It’s not even 8:00 yet.

M:Well, I have a report to finish at work for this afternoon. Anyway, I didn’t get much sleep after being woken up by those two guys arguing in the street. Did you hear them?

W:Oh, maybe. Was it around 3:00 in the morning?

M:Actually, it was at 2:00—I looked at my clock when they woke me up. Some of our neighbors were yelling at them to keep it down.

W:I thought I was having a dream. Anyway, do you want some of this?

M:What’s that?

W:It’s soybean milk. I’ve been drinking it every morning for the past two weeks. It’s my new routine.

M:Oh, I often just have some coffee.

听第9段材料,回答第13至16题。

Text 9

M:How do you usually get to work in the morning?

W:I try to ride my bike most of the time. Of course, when I’m running late, I take the subway.

M:I always seem to be five or ten minutes late for everything. I drive to work every day, so if the traffic is bad, I have to think of a new way to apologize to my boss for being late.

W:Does your boss yell at you if you’re late?

M:No, not really. He knows that I live far away. I stay late whenever I don’t make it on time in the morning, and it probably helps that I earn a fair amount of money for the company year after year.

W:Have you ever considered moving into the city to be closer to your job?

M:To be honest, I would rather change jobs than houses! My wife loves our house, especially since she works at home. Our kids are in great schools. And on the weekends, there are a million things for us to do as a family.

W:It does sound nice. For me, though, I love living in the city. There are so many cultural activities, and I don’t love driving.

M:Yeah, driving is pretty stressful sometimes.

W:I think it’s also easier to live in the city when you don’t have kids. If I were a mom, I’d probably live closer to you.

M:Well, you and Tim might want to think about getting started with that…

W:You sound just like my mother-in-law!

听第10段材料,回答第17至20题。

Text 10

W:Everybody, welcome to our company. I am Luisa, Director of the department. Let me say something to you all. The starting of work can be exciting on the one hand, and can also be worrying on the other. No matter what your future job is,you will have to work with others. Learning to get on well with others must come first, including all staff in the company and our customers.

And secondly, right after my introduction, spend some time reading the introduction of our company and get to know the people in your office and find out what the company is like. This afternoon you can walk around our workshops and know more about the products. No one is allowed to leave the company before 5:30 pm. By the way, lunchtime comes at 11:50 and it’s free for charge. Remember:Learning is so important that it can change your future life. This is what I’d like to say to you at the moment. If you still have any questions, please come to my office. Thank you.
