Some really sad news. Presley, the Spix’s macaw, was dead. Presley was a parrot. And it was one of the most endangered parrots. Fourteen years ago Presley was rescued from a small pet cage in the USA. And then it was sent back to Brazil. The films Rio and Rio 2 were both based on the story of Presley. For most of the time since Presley’s return, it was in the care of Bill and Linda Wittkoff at Lymington. It was in very poor condition when it arrived. The couple improved its condition greatly. But one day it developed a heart problem. It passed away in 2014. When it died, it was nearly 40 years old. More sad news on this. The famous Brazilian wildlife photographer, Luiz Claudio Marigo, died after returning from a run. Luiz filmed and took photos of the most endangered parrots in the wild before they disappeared. His death is a great loss to the protection of the wildlife.
