The Village is a historical drama series on the BBC and is written by Peter Moffat.The first season,filmed in 2012,takes place between the years 1914 and 1920.The second season,filmed in 2014,takes place in the 1920s.A future series is set to take place during World War II in the 1940s.The show tells the life story of Bert Middleton,a man who was born to a working-class family and raised on a farm in the small village of Derbyshire.

The first season was not very popular.People said that although the show was well acted,the subject matter and countryside were too depressing.This was due in part to the extreme winter weather experienced in Peak District National Park in England,where the show was filmed.While the very first show of season one was watched by 8.17 million people,the very last show of season one was only watched by 5.48 million.

The second season takes place in the spring,which offered viewers a sunnier and happier attitude,although the final show only had 4.27 million viewers.The second season was mainly filmed in Lyme Park,England,which includes a large house surrounded by gardens.
