W: No, don’t worry.
M:When you said we were going climbing, I thought you meant a hill or a snow mountain.
W: Relax. It hasn’t erupted for 100 years, although there was a bad earthquake five decades ago.
M:That kind of thing happens near volcanoes.
W:We’ll be fine.I’ve been doing this climb for the past 10 years and nothing has happened.
M:The ground is getting warmer.
W:Yes, when we get to the top, we’ll be able to look inside and see the smoke rising.

M: We need to deliver 2,000 meals tonight to people that cannot leave their home because of the virus.
W: We only have six people in our team.We would need at least another 60 volunteers to get them all done.
M:I know, but we just need to try our best. Our normal delivery times are between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, but if we make that from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, then we can maybe get most of them done.
W: We’ll need to finish earlier, because we are not allowed out after 9:00 pm.
M:I forgot.OK, let me see if I can get any more volunteers.
W:And I’ll see if we can get more cars.

W:Hello,Jason.
M:Hi,Debra. I just dropped by to see how you’re getting along with your packing.Do you need any help?
W:No,everything is okay.Thanks.But I’ve got a lot more things to take home than I’d thought. It’ll probably be a little overweight.
M:You know that as long as the two cases are less than 40 kg, that’s all right for flights to America. You can have a handbag and a small backpack as carry-ons,too.
W:Then that won’t be a problem.
M:Now, when did you say your flight would leave?
W:Let me see…at 10:30 am.
M:I’ll come and pick you up at 7:30 am.Then we can arrive early enough to check in without rushing.
W:Thanks, Jason.You don’t have to bother,though.I can call a taxi.
M:Well,I don’t have anything scheduled for tomorrow morning, so it won’t be any trouble picking you up.

W:Hey, George! Where are you heading?
M:Hey, it’s you, Mary, I just came back from an exhibition. To be exact, a fine art exhibition.
W: Really? Is it good?
M:Yeah, pretty good, I should say.You know, I don’t have any artistic ability, but I can appreciate the stuff there. There are portraits (肖像), oil paintings and watercolors. It’s really amazing.Sometimes they can fool your eyes—you have to look really closely to see that’s not a photo or something real. It’s a great exhibition.
W:What paintings do you like best?
M:I would have to say the oil paintings. They’re just so colorful and alive.
W:Yeah, that’s one thing that I like about oil paintings. But I can’t stand the traditional style. I find it so boring.
M:Yeah, I’m a little tired of that style, too.I’m crazy about art,and I wish that I were able to paint as well as these artists. You should go and have a look at this exhibition if you can afford a day. It’s really great.
W:Well, I was just thinking about what to do for the weekend. Now you’ve given me a good idea. I’m really looking forward to it!
M:Trust me, it’s worthwhile and the ticket is not expensive.
W:OK.I’ve got to go and get a ticket now. See you.
