　　Every year,we celebrate many special days.In some countries,there is a special day for playing tricks on others.This day is known as April Fool’s Day,and is usually celebrated on April 1st.

　　Many people believe that the French started April Fool’s Day.Centuries ago,New Year’s Day in Europe was on April 1st.In 1582,the calendar changed and the king of France moved New Year’s Day to January 1st.

　　Some people didn’t like this,and chose to keep April 1st as the start of a year.Many people called these people “April Fools” and played jokes on them.Over time,April 1st became a day to have fun in France.Then it spread to England and Scotland,and later,to North America.

　　On April Fool’s Day,playing jokes on other people is common.In the US,for example,a person may set a friend’s clock one hour ahead,or replace the sugar with some salt.Other countries have their own “Fool’s Day”.In Spain and Mexico,people have fun with each other on December 28th.

　　In many countries around the world,April 1st is a day of fun.
