W:Martin,what’s the hardest part of playing a superhero?

M:Well,I have to be very fit,and I have to keep my brave cool superhero face on all the time,but those aren’t the hardest parts.It’s doing the action parts.

W:You grew up in Canada.How was that?

M:I have a lot of family members there.I went to a very international school,but the best thing was the most fantastic countryside near our home.My brothers and I spent most weekends camping in the forest.It was great.

W:So how did you get into acting?

M:Well,I studied literature at university but never acted in any student drama.After graduating I worked as an assistant for a producer working on a musical comedy.One night an actor was ill and I was asked to play his part and it just went from there.

W:What would you have done if you hadn’t become a successful actor?

M:Well,my dad was a police officer.My mum was a teacher.Even so,neither of those jobs really interested me.My older brother had an import-export company and he always said that I could have a job in his office,so I guess that’s what I’d probably have done.

From Monday to Friday most people are busy working or studying,but in the evenings and on weekends they are free to relax and enjoy themselves.Some watch TV or go to the movies.Others take part in sports.There are many different ways to spend their spare time.

Almost everyone has some kind of hobbies.It may be anything from collecting stamps to making model airplanes.Some hobbies are very expensive,but others don’t cost anything at all.Some collections are worth a lot of money.Others are valuable only to the owners.

I know a man who has a coin collection worth $250.He is very happy about his purchase and thinks the price is reasonable.On the other hand,my youngest brother collects matchboxes.He has almost 600 of them,but I doubt if they are worth any money.However,to my brother they are extremely valuable.Nothing makes him happier than to find a new matchbox for his collection.

That is what a hobby means,I guess.It is something we like to do in our spare time simply for fun.The value in dollars is not important.We do it for the pleasure it gives us.
